W Bro John Woodhouse, LGR writes:

The United Engineers Lodge No 3862 was recognised by the Metropolitan Grand Master earlier this year, as having made a contribution of more than £25,000 towards the London Air Ambulance Appeal. As a result, a number of members, including myself as Charity Steward, were invited to visit the London Hospital Heliport, seventeen floors up above London's East End.

Although the wind was somewhat brisk to say the least, we did see the helicopter lift off in answer to a call and return shortly after. It’s a magnificent sight which is guaranteed to pull your heart out of your chest in sheer pride!

Coincidentally, in 1978 I was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer – but it was the London Hospital that ignored this diagnosis from another hospital and removed a lung, successfully enough that I am able to write this today.
