Celebrating 20 Years of Metropolitan Grand Lodge

On the evening of February 13th 2024, the Metropolitan Grand Lodge and Grand Chapter celebrated their 20th Anniversary with a splendid black-tie banquet.

W Bro Daniel Graham

Hosted at the prestigious Guildhall in the City of London, the event was meticulously organised by the Metropolitan Events Team, with the invaluable support of 30 dedicated Metropolitan Grand Lodge and Grand Chapter volunteers.

The celebration, attended by over 650 Masons, family and friends, opened with a flowing drinks reception in the wonderfully historic Old Library. The air was filled with anticipation as attendees mingled and enjoyed the exquisite surroundings, setting the mood for an unforgettable evening.

The guests were summoned to dine by a jubilant refrain from the trumpeters of the Thames Fanfare Brass. The grandeur continued with a sumptuous dinner in the Great Hall, where the rich history, founders and achievements of the Metropolitan Grand Lodge and Grand Chapter were honoured and celebrated by Sir Michael Snyder, Metropolitan Grand Master.

Much to the delight of those in the room, the Pro Grand Master, Jonathan Spence, eloquently amused the attendees with a jocular discourse centred around the statuary in the Great Hall, delivered with a humorous tilt at our neighbours in Spain and France. The atmosphere was both elegant and convivial, as attendees indulged in culinary delights executed flawlessly by caterers, The Cook And The Butler.

The festivities reached a crescendo with a Stirrup Cup back in the Old Library, providing a final opportunity for guests to mingle and savour the enchanting ambiance and reflect on a momentous occasion.

Among VIPs gracing the event with their presence were Metropolitan Grand Master Sir Michael Snyder and his wife, Mary, Pro Grand Master Jonathan Spence and his wife, Almudena, PPGM Peter Lowndes, the Marquess and Marchioness of Northampton, AGM Sir David Wootton, PMetGM Russell Race, President of the BGP, Michael Ward and many other members of the Metropolitan Grand Lodge and Grand Chapter Executive; alongside other distinguished guests.

The Founding of Metropolitan Grand Lodge & Grand Chapter 20th Anniversary Banquet was a resounding success, a fitting tribute to two decades of achievements and a fitting testament to the camaraderie and fellowship that define the Metropolitan Masonic community.
