WHAT IS FREEMASONRY?

Freemasonry is one of the world’s oldest and largest non-religious, non-political, fraternal and charitable organisations.

Ceres Lodge actively supports Masonic charities and has also supported a number of non-masonic charities over the years

Delve into the rich traditions of Freemasonry as we gather to celebrate our shared values and principles

We meet at Mark Masons’ Hall in St. James Street, London SW1A 1PL: https://markmasonshall.org.

The Kent Club for London Freemasons organises social events for Masons and their families.

Engage in enlightening discussions, partake in meaningful rituals, and forge lasting connections with fellow brethren

W Bro Anthony Muirhead — the Chairman of the Connaught Club — gives an update of what s going on with the young masons in London.

As with the rest of masonry,  the Connaught Club  continues to feel the effects of the pandemic.

No sooner had we got used to one way of doing things, things changed around again.

With a vaccine now being given to patients, we look forward to an easing of restrictions and a resumption of masonic activity. Of course, we may need to remind ourselves how to open and close a Lodge first!

We are continuing to plan events for 2021, but we do not anticipate any sort of normal to appear until at least March. Online events continue to be scheduled, with our new year quiz and talks on other orders coming up.

Once restrictions have been eased, we look forward to resuming our monthly drinks on the first Friday of each month at the Freemasons Arms.
This is a very informal event, and everyone is welcome, including partners and non members. The drinks offer a relaxed way of getting to know a bit about the Club but can also be used for prospective candidates to enable them to meet a wider circle of masons to inform their decision on joining.

Also in the pipeline is our new website. This is something that is far too technical for me to explain (understand) in detail, but I am assured that it will be a fantastic new website and will refresh our online presence.

We continue our drive to raise funds for our charity this year (the Maytree Centre; a sanctuary for the suicidal), and any donations would be most gratefully welcomed. We have a Virgin Money Giving page – please search for the Connaught Club and select the Maytree Mountain Challenge page.

Every penny you donate does save lives. £10 will pay for the recruitment and DBS check for a new befriender volunteer, and £50 will fund the costs of telephone and email support for ten people in a suicide crisis.
